Carrie & Southern Blush

Left in the recovery closet are Carrie and Southern Blush. I think even being in the plastic bag of dirt they seem to be doing okay. I mean it has been 11 days and so far only Southern Blush lost its top group of leaves. I rigged this piece of wood with grip clamps so I could get the lamps closer to the leaves. The lamps own clamps were weak so I used more grip clamps to hold it in place. Heres hoping that the mangoes all survive.

Moved all my orchids and two mango trees to work.

I moved Pickering and Graham; along with all my orchids and some of my plants to work.

I am still waiting for Gro Pots to transplant Southern Blush and Carrie. Not sure when they'll show up at the South Bay Hydroponic store?

Lost a lot of leaves from Glenn, Lancetilla and Valencia Pride. Waiting to see when this will stop. Julie holding onto her leaves better than the other guys.

Closet Mangoes, 10 days later

Using my newly acquired 20mm Nikkor lens from Catherine. I took this photo. See above how Southern Blush's stem being very tall.

Here… Southern Blush got pruned down.

Today I got my Felco F8 pruners from Amazon.com (and a Bodum coffee pot). I read that these pruners are simply the best and the choice of professionals. I think I got a really good deal on it too.

Today, I ate a Tommy Atkins for dessert and it tasted virtually flavorless. I did take the seed and planted it into a pot that had my dead Alphonso and Julie rootstock.

Valencia Pride still has fresh leaves but two of her branches are showing signs of shriveling. I'm hoping as long as she has enough leaves for photosynthesis, it should survive.

Lancetilla, looks great.

 

Julie looks great, dropped her bottom leaves but most of her leaves on top are fresh.

You can see the yellow leaves at his base but he is looking good too.

I propped Pickering onto a bamboo stick to straighten it out during transplant. Graham I did yesterday, he was really crooked.

New Year's day, 2011

I went to New Year's Gongyo at the community center today for the 11am Buddhist ceremony. It was lovely.

Afterwards, I thought I better visit my mango trees at work and see how they're doing. My work place is super dry, so when I got to my cubicle, my mangoes really needed a big drink of water.
Glenn #2, Julie #4, Lancetilla and Valencia Pride lost a few leaves, with VP loosing the most of the bunch. Fortunately VP is still holding onto some leaves. So, will keep an eye on her. Manila has a whole bunch of new leaves from her two flushes and looking strong. The 'Young' (aka Tebow) trees look the same; not much change. Julie #1 looks a little sad but still green. I wonder if she'll have the resources to try for another flush of leaves?
